Back in 2018 as part of the city’s reconciliation efforts, Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza was renamed šxʷƛ̓exən Xwtl’a7shn. It refers to “a place you are invited to celebrate” in the languages spoken by the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh peoples.
